Intro

Eat the Rich #5 – FINAL ISSUE. ‘TIL DEATH DO US PART! Astor finally proposes but the cost of marrying into the 1% is too terrible for Joey to even contemplate. Too bad saying no isn’t an option if she wants to get out of Crestfall Bluffs in one piece! With the horrible truth fully revealed, can Joey escape a proposal much too rich for her blood, or will she get eaten alive by the secrets of the rich and powerful?

Writing

Sarah Gailey has delivered on a fascinating storyline which has horrified from issue #1. And now that we’ve reached the series finale, she continues to deliver on all fronts. Last issue left us with a thrilling cliff-hanger and Joey trying to escape Astor’s murderous father. But now with Astor’s proposal she’s caught between a rock and a hard place. And she must make a decision about what she’s going to do next. Gailey does a fantastic job with this storyline and what a final issue!

Artwork

Pius Bak has consistently delivered on his artwork from issue #1 and it has complimented Sarah Gailey’s storyline perfectly. And with the series finale, his standard is still at the level we’ve received throughout. There’s a fantastic panel with Petal and Astor and Bak’s level of detail really caught the eye. Roman Titov again delivers brilliantly with his colour palette which is quite subtle in its usage and Cardinal Rae’s lettering is again a standout.

Overall

And that’s it. The thrilling finale in what has been a thoroughly enjoyable series. Sarah Gailey has given us a fantastic storyline to sink our teeth into (pun intended). And it’s been a great read from issue #1. I wondered after last month’s issue how Gailey would bring it all together and I was not disappointed. The cannibalistic conclusion was gripping from start to finish. And maybe we might see another visit to Crestfall Bluffs in the future. I for one hope so!
